Couple held for forging documents in Sandakan
A married couple comprising a 31-year-old Malaysian man and a 28-year-old Indonesian woman suspected involved in forging documents were nabbed by the Immigration Department during "Ops Mega 3.0 (Ops Serkap)" on Tuesday.
State Immigration Director Musa Sulaiman said the duo were nabbed at around 12.40am at a shop at International Flat, Batu 2 ½, Jalan Utara, by seven immigration personnel led by Sandakan Immigration Department Deputy Assistant Director Azlan Shah Hashim. Also seized were forged documents as well as printers and scanners used to conduct the illegal activity. The Malaysian man was freed on police bail while his wife is held at the Sibuga Temporary Detention Centre for further action.
Musa said the case was referred under Section 55D of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Amendment 2002) and Immigration Regulations 1959/63. - Mardinah Jikur
