Tawau: An attempt to evade the Road Transport Department (JPJ) left a 25-year-old salesman with minor head injury after crashing his Proton Wira into another vehicle at Jalan Utara on Monday.District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the incident was reported by a JPJ officer who led an operation at the scene when the Wira was stopped.

Fadil said the driver, who had no driving license, decided to make a break for it instead of stopping as instructed, causing his vehicle to crash into a Naza Citra driven by a 56-year-old policeman that turned turtle due to the collision.

After the crash, he said the suspect still attempted to flee the scene with his damaged vehicle but was detained by JPJ officers at Jalan Tengku Osman.

For the Naza, he said the driver sustained no injuries while his passenger suffered minor mouth injuries.

The case will be investigated under Section 42(11) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
